Active Learning
All young children learn by having real experiences, we offer lots of opportunities for children to learn through first hand experiences. High / Scope has identified five ingredients for active learning.
Materials
A variety of interesting materials, for children to play and work with.
Manipulation
Giving children opportunities to handle, explore and work with materials.
Choice
Giving children choices to select their own materials and decide how to use them.
Language
Encouraging children to TALK about what they are doing and what they have done.
Support
Supporting and extending children’s efforts by talking with them about what they are doing, joining in with their play, and helping them to solve any problems
